Technology for Social Change Program

The Center for Engineering Concepts Development (CECD) and the Neilom Foundation have teamed up to provide up to $2,000 to teams of undergraduate students who are developing promising, innovative approaches to apply technology to advance social change. All student teams must be comprised of one or more STEM students, multidisciplinary teams from any discipline on campus are encouraged, but not required. Teams must also identify and select a faculty mentor.

Selected teams will receive:

  • Up to $1,000 of funding to help further develop their concept or venture
  • An additional $1,000 in a second stage of funding to continue development for promising projects

All University of Maryland undergraduate students are eligible to apply for funding.  All applicants are required to apply as a team of two students or more and at least one member of the team must be a currently enrolled undergraduate STEM major.
